Our most popular handpans often sell out and can remain available only for pre-order for an extended period, because each instrument is handcrafted in small batches.
How to place a pre-order
If a handpan is not in stock, you can place your pre-order
directly on the product page. Simply add the handpan to
your cart and complete the checkout.
Pre-ordering reserves your handpan
Pre-ordering is the best way to secure your handpan. The
expected shipping date shown on the product page when you
place your order is the date we expect to ship your
handpan.
The expected shipping date
This is not a general back-in-stock date. It is the
expected shipping date for new orders placed at that
moment. Because some handpans receive a high number of
pre-orders, newly finished instruments may already be
reserved before they become available for immediate
shipment. This means the expected shipping date can move
further out as more pre-orders are placed.
The back-in-stock email is only a notification
Joining the back-in-stock list lets you know when the
handpan becomes available for immediate shipment again.
It does not reserve an instrument. Depending on demand,
this may take several weeks or months. In some cases, the
handpan may remain available only for pre-order for an
extended period.
Order with confidence
Your 30-day return period and 2-year tuning guarantee
begin on the day your handpan is delivered.
Although our handpans are handcrafted in our workshop in Bali, retuning and aftercare are handled much closer to home. If your handpan ever needs retuning, the retuning support is done by our team in the Netherlands.
2-year tuning guarantee
All LIDAH handpans include a 2-year tuning guarantee with normal use. We are confident that your instrument can be enjoyed for many years without needing a retune, but if you are not happy with the tuning within the first 2 years, we will retune your handpan free of charge.
Lifelong tuning support
Even after the 2-year guarantee period, you are always welcome to contact us for help. We offer lifelong retuning support for LIDAH handpans. In most cases, we can retune your handpan in the Netherlands within a couple of weeks, after which we can ship it back to you. If you visit our showroom it can sometimes be retuned the same day!
When needed, we can also help connect you with trusted tuning partners worldwide, so you are never left alone if your instrument needs care in the future.

Is the Essential Series good for beginners?
Yes, the Essential Series Handpan is a great choice for beginners. Its 53 cm size offers the classic handpan playing experience while still feeling easy and comfortable to play. For most beginners, 10 notes is a great place to start, giving you more melodic freedom while still keeping the instrument easy to play.
For beginners, the most popular and versatile choice is the D Minor Kurd (D Kurd 10). It has a wide emotional range, from meditative and melancholic to uplifting and joyful. All notes harmonize beautifully, so you can intuitively play without worrying about mistakes.
If you don’t have a strong preference yet, D Minor Kurd is a safe and inspiring choice. Other scales, like F Pygmy or Ashakiran scales are also beginner-friendly. Ultimately, the right handpan is the one that moves you most. Listen to the sound samples and choose the one that resonates with you.
Our handpans are built to last. With normal use, they stay perfectly in tune for 3–7+ years before needing any retuning. If a note ever drifts, simply contact us and we’ll retune it for you.
Every instrument comes with a 2-year tuning warranty: if anything happens during normal use, we’ll fix it free of charge. Even after the warranty, you can always send it back for retuning at a fair price. This way, you can buy with complete peace of mind.
Not at all! Because all notes belong to the same scale, they sound nice together. You don’t need any prior musical background to create beautiful melodies.
Most beginners can play simple rhythms within days. With practice, you’ll quickly discover more patterns and techniques. To support your journey, every handpan includes free lifetime access to an Online Handpan course: over 30 step-by-step video lessons. This makes learning fun and accessible at your own pace.
When you order a LIDAH handpan, you don’t just receive an instrument, you receive a complete package to start your journey right away:
- Your handcrafted LIDAH handpan
- Free lifetime access to Online Handpan Course (30+ online lessons)
- Padded handpan bag for safe storage and effortless transport
- Handpan stand to support and enhance your playing
- Handpan rope for rim safety and a distinctive look
- Handpan oil + microfiber cloth to keep your instrument in top condition
- Certificate of Authenticity
Everything you need is included, so you can start playing, protecting, and enjoying your instrument from day one.
All our instruments are handcrafted in our Bali workshop by our small, experienced team. Each handpan is shaped, tuned, and finished with precision and care, combining craftsmanship with modern innovation. The result: instruments with soul, made to inspire for years to come.
